Child labour...
Child Working with straw
Introduction
We as a class are doing a project on child labour in a country. I did the Philippines.
There are so many child workers all around the world.
A lot have little or no time to play or to be an actual kid like us here.
I think I am lucky to be here. I would not like to be working full-time.
The country I chose for this project is the Philippines where I originated. Its sad to know that were you came from has turned in to a place full of child labour. The product I chose to do in the Philippines was kids working on rice fields.
ActionPlan
In child labour/labor in general there are about 215 million child workers. Most of them are working full-time
and do not have time to go to school from their long working hours and also don't have much time to play
or some times even no time to play.
For every 20 children in the philippines 3 of them would be child workers.
There are 5.59 million child workers in the Philippines. Almost all of them are working in harmful conditions.
Out of those 5.29 million children are working in the Philippines, 3.028 were child workers close to harmful kinds of stuff.
A lot of these child workers are between 5-18.
Most of them die because of poor treatment, lack of food and for many other reasons depending on their job.
Research shows that 55% of the total number of working children in the South-east Asia
is in the Philippines.
For our class project we were to choose a country and then the product. I chose rice.
In the Philippines as I said has 5.29 million child workers. 69.5% (2.106 million)
are actually attending school at least. But those are the domestic workers in the Philippines that get
proper health care, time to play and kinda what we have here. But of course they have to do the domestic work.
Reasons there are child labour in the Philippines
The government in the Philippines is not creating jobs for adults to work in so
children are forced to work for the family and help pay for the family's basic every day needs.
Also sometimes the parents of the child worker gets sick and they don't have enough money
to pay medical wise.
Or the family size is too big making (most of the time) the oldest to be given away to another place
to be a domestic worker or be near harmful kinds of stuff.
Reason I am doing this action plan
I am doing this action plan because I am here to inform the world out there.Hopefully this
whole action project will inspire you to help stop this horrible problem thats world wide.
Its just sad to know that there is some horrible tragedy thats happening in your own
country that you originated in.
